Four out of every ten young working people under 25 years of age in the EU think that they could lose their jobs

According to data published by the European Commision in its “Employment and Social policy” report, four out of every ten (39%) young working people aged 15 to 24 are concerned about losing their jobs in the current economic crisis.

This concern is somehow higher than the feeling of the working general population.

If that happened and they were laid-off, 47% of young working people under 25 years of age are sure they would find a job in the next six months. Otherwise, 27% think they would not.

Young people are more optimistic than the general working population about finding a new job if they lost their current ones (47% against 41%).

Young people of the EU, in general, think that the main assets to easily find a job today are level of one´s qualifications (mentioned by 58%) and professional experience (mentioned by 49%). Young people mention language skills more than the general population (25% against 17%).
