According to data published by the Office of Sociological Research, dependent on the First Minister's Office of the Basque Government, in December 2011, that correspond to the Basque Sociological Study 47, and analysed by the Basque Youth Observatory, young people in the Basque country aged 18 to 29 perceive great inequalities between men and women in different aspects related to the field of employment: the opportunity of finding a job, when they have found a job, in the possibilities of reconciling work and family life, wages, job stability and career development opportunities or access to positions of responsibility within companies.

Inequalities are also perceived in the political sphere, given that 41% of young people believe that women find it more difficult than men to access top political positions. Only 3% of young people believe that the situation of women is better than that of men.
These perceptions, in any case, are less negative than those of the population in general. The percentage of people who believe that the situation of women is worse than that of men is, for all of the aspects analysed, higher among the general population of the BASQUE COUNTRY (18 and over) than among young people.
